Love Wraps Beeswax Wraps
Did you know that every piece of plastic ever created is still in existence today? Australians produce a lot of waste. According to Clean Up Australia, the amount of waste that ends up in the landfill in Australia every year is enough to cover the entire state of Victoria! Unfortunately only a small percentage of disposable plastics are properly disposed of – most make their way into landfill or our oceans and waterways. Once in the water, plastic can have catastrophic consequences for marine species, over 800 marine species are currently endangered because of plastic pollution. We have produced more plastic in the past ten years than we did over the entirety of the last century. A 2016 World Economic Forum report said that the world was on track to have more plastic than fish in the oceans by 2050! We can't undo what has been done. But what we can do as individuals is reduce the amount of plastic we purchase moving forward, particularly our single use plastics.
Introducing Love Wraps Bees Wax Wraps. Created by Far North Queensland local and fellow Earth-Mamma Ashley Matar. Ashley inspiration to start her own business came when she was pregnant with her first child, Sequoia. "I had realized my life was about to change in a huge way and my job and old hobbies that I did at that time would not be taken into the next chapter of motherhood. One day I looked down and held my hands around my baby in my belly and ask Sequoia 'what should I do to help the awareness of the planet…' He replied and said 'wait and the answer will come to you.' 3 weeks later beeswax wraps came into my life."
Love Wraps are made from Ashley's own recipe and support local beekeepers in Queensland. Her eco-friendly, beeswax wraps are made from a high-quality beeswax with a nice thick layer of beeswax that was sticky and would be really pliable causing the wrap to crack less and last longer. Love Wraps aim is to help people move towards a more sustainable lifestyle and reduce the amount of single-use plastic. Bee’s wax wraps are reusable for up to 8 months to 12 months and are biodegradable. With a variety of sizes available to wrap half an avocado, right through to a large bowl of salad, there's no need to use single-use plastic to wrap your food again!
